Blow Up Film Fest 2021

"Atomic Cover-up" is the first documentary to explore the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 from the unique perspective, words, and startling images of the brave cameramen and directors who risked their lives filming in the irradiated aftermath

Atomic Cover-up (Short)

Jennifer re-enacts the writing of a journal page when she was six years old describing an encounter with her older sister.

Be Carfle

A moonrise over Newhall, California, in July 2020, recontextualized via sound from a spring pond in Caroline, New York, from July 2011.

A meditation on time, attention, memory, and reverie.

Sound from the breaking of spring echoes into blurred and hypnotic summer evening lights, constructing a fantastical location built from time and distance, steeped in our perceptions and reminiscences. Its slow-moving image, generated by pushing a consumer camcorder to its limits of resolution and light sensitivity, abstracts the land- and life-scape of its subject, breaking with a narrative approach to allow a viewer to feel, hear, and see directly.

Visiting Caroline, we sift through our memories for afterimages that help us make sense of the present moment.

Caroline

The city of Hermoupolis, capital of Syros is located at the center of the Cyclades, in the Aegean Sea, in Greece.
In its history one can find all the elements that shaped contemporary Greece.
This is an animated documentary telling its story.

Hellenic Places: Hermoupolis

An intimate portrayal of Mariola Wawrzusiak-Borcz, an artist-welder who creates catastrophic sculptures from recycled scrap metal, which are a critique of the destructing nature of mankind.

RUST

A 16th century Virgin statue in Tenerife island ended up in private hands. In 2020, a parish priest committed the image reproduction to an Italian painter, just before the starting of the Covid-19.

Blow Up Film Fest 2020

AFTER LIFE 2016 is an experimental film by New York City based multidisciplinary artist Peter Welch. Best described as a personal travelogue without dialogue or interviews, the film examines various locales and iconography within the United States during a politically charged year in an attempt to better understand the country as it is presently.

AFTER LIFE 2016

PISS OFF explores a long-practiced erotic fetish from the point of view of a gay millennial who expresses it as performance art.

PISS OFF

A film about Sako, an eccentric Indonesian man with Chinese roots.
Sako is struggling with his past. He is traumatized because of the murder of his innocent father, who was one of the many alleged communists that were killed in the transition period to the Suharto regime in Indonesia in 1965.
Sadly, this brutal period is still taboo in Indonesia and what makes it more painful for Sako is that during this time, he supported the responsible regime. To break the taboo and process his trauma, Sako went out with his camcorder and filmed people close to him and talked with them about their experiences related to this past.
